 Utility Maintenance Crew Leader – Public Works / Water Distribution

Performs skilled work as a member of a crew engaged in the construction, installation and repair of water and sewer lines, hydrants and water meters. Serves as crew leader instructing workers and relaying instructions and procedures to complete work and ensure safety; also operates a variety of construction equipment. High School graduation or equivalent and considerable experience in construction related utility work. Must be able to perform very heavy work often under unfavorable weather conditions. NCDL required.

Pay Grade: 14
Starting salary: $26,341

 Firefighter/EMT

Application process to establish a 12 month eligibility list. N.C Firefighter Level II certification & NC EMT Basic certification with ability to obtain EMT-I; or ability to obtain required certifications within specified time frames. Must provide a National Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) with application. A CRC can be obtained at most educational institutions such as the local community college. Successful candidates must pass physical job simulation exercise, pre-employment drug screen and background investigation. High school graduate or equivalent. NCDL required.

Pay Grade: 16
Starting Salary: $27,658 for Trainee or $29,041 if fully qualified

Part-time Lifeguard – Parks and Recreation/Aquatics

Responsibilities include ensuring the education and enforcement of safety in and around the water and responding to emergencies that may occur.  Also required to assist in teaching swim lessons and must be able to substitute for water aerobics when needed.  Requires the following certifications or ability to obtain: American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer, CPR and First Aid.  Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to learn and understand pool filtration systems.  Ability to work Monday through Friday night, and every other weekend as needed. 

Pay Grade: 6
Starting Salary: $8.57/hr.
