New Municipal & Utility Services Billing Statement

Beginning in May 2008 there will be a format change to your City of Washington Municipal & Utility Services Billing Statement.

In the past the “Fossil Fuel Charge” that has been on your bill appeared as a separate line item. Beginning in May this item will no longer appear on your statement. This charge will now be incorporated into the base charge for electric energy (kWh) usage in your monthly bill.  This bill format change does not increase your monthly billed amount. Your May bill has one charge for energy usage which is the combination of the two charges on the bill that you have been accustomed to seeing.

The base charge for electric energy and the fossil fuel charge are both based on your electric energy (kWh) usage. Although the bills for electric usage vary from month to month based on your energy consumption, the total cost for each unit of electric energy (kWh) did not change.

Here is an example of the change:

Old Billing Statement Example – 1,652 kWh of usage

Energy (kWh) and Fossil Fuel Charges as Separate Entries

May Billing Statement Example – 1,652 kWh of usage

Energy (kWh) and Fossil Fuel Charge Combined into One Entry
