November 10, 2008

Due to the construction of the US 17 Bypass we will be relocating some of the electrical facilities south of the Tar-Pamlico River to provide clearance for the new roadway.
 
To facilitate the new construction we will be having a City system-wide electrical outage.   Below is the current proposed date and time for this outage:
 
PLEASE NOTE THE DATE CHANGE
 
Beginning:      11:00 p.m.,  Saturday,  10 January 2009
Ending:            5:00 a.m.,  Sunday,  11 January 2009
Duration:         6 hours
 
This date is based on the delivery of materials, current contract negotiations, and the current construction schedule provided by the roadway contractor, Flatiron/United.
 
This outages will affect all areas served by Washington Electric Utilities which include: all of the area within the city limits of Washington; all of Beaufort County west of and including Market Street Extension and North of the Tar-Pamlico River; US 17 North; US 264 West - Beaufort County; Martin County - the area surrounding US 17 North from the Beaufort County line to 6 miles south of Williamston; NC 32 North from Washington to Terra Ceia; Clark's Neck Road; Market Street Extension; Slatestone; White Post; Bunyan; Old Ford; Washington Park; Pinetown; Bath; Bayview; Free Union; Hunter's Bridge; Yeatesville; Midway; River Road Area from Washington to Broad Creek to US 264 East; US 264 East; NC 92 East.
